How much does an adoption home study cost and what are the associated fees?
Our fees range from $1400 for a stepparent adoption and up to $1800 for a domestic adoption home study. In a few cases there might be associated travel costs but these are minimal.
We will send you a letter of agreement and other required paperwork in including a checklist. After your initial retainer fee is paid to secure services you will be able to log on and download your adoption home study packet. The remaining amount of your home study fee is due before the home visit/interviews. There are fees required for FBI fingerprint checks and child abuse and neglect checks in Texas, have no cost other than any notary fees for the form.
What forms of payment do you take?
We take checks, credit cards, and money orders.
What background checks are required?
FBI checks and/or state criminal checks and child abuse and neglect checks are required. We will walk you through this process including any requirements for the Adam Walsh Act.
How long does the home study process take?
Completion of a home study can take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks depending on availability and whether or not you have your required background checks in hand. Remember some background checks such as a mailed FBI clearance can take time. We can provide referrals to expedited FBI channelers who return results in a few days.
